The United States Federal Special Court (USFSC) is the judicial arm of the Department of Esoteric and Thaumaturgical Research. It functions as the supreme court for all internal matters, providing legal clarity, enforcing compliance, and issuing binding judgments. The court ensures that even within a sovereign and extragovernmental structure, law and procedure remain intact.
The USFSC is composed of a select panel of appointed judges. Each judge is drawn from the Department’s legal cadre and vetted for security clearance and operational knowledge. Unlike civilian courts, USFSC judges operate under strict anonymity, and their identities are compartmentalized to prevent external influence or compromise.
Cases may be referred to the USFSC by DIRCOM, STRATCOM, or directorates. Proceedings are conducted in closed chambers, and rulings are distributed through compartmentalized channels to prevent leaks. Decisions of the USFSC are final and not subject to appeal within the Department.
The USFSC operates within STRATCOM but maintains judicial independence. While it does not issue operational directives, its rulings are binding on all directorates and subdivisions. In matters of constitutional crisis within the Department, the USFSC serves as the final arbiter, with the authority to involve DIRCOM directly.
